LEXINGTON –Dan Summerlin, pastor of Lone Oak First Baptist Church of Paducah, was elected without opposition as the next president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention on Tuesday.
Messengers to KBC’s 175th Annual Meeting convened at Immanuel Baptist Church in Lexington elected four additional officers without opposition to serve during the coming year.
Tom James, pastor of Eastwood Baptist Church in Bowling Green, will serve as first vice president.
Tommy Tapscott, associate pastor at First Baptist Church of East Bernstadt, was elected second vice president.
Returning to serve as KBC secretary is Wilma Simmons, a Mission Service Corps missionary and member of Big Spring Baptist Church in Ekron. With 20 years at the post, Simmons is the longest-serving officer in KBC history according to outgoing president, Adam Greenway.
Pat Reaves, a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Louisville, was re-elected assistant secretary.
