PRINCETON–Don Phillips, long-time minister of music at First Baptist Church in Franklin, Ky., was recently honored with the Eugene Quinn Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Eugene Quinn Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honor given by the Kentucky Baptist Music Conference and is presented to those who have demonstrated outstanding devotion and excellence in a lifetime of church music ministry.
Phillips recently retired from First Baptist Church, Franklin after serving there as minister of music since 1973.
In addition to his local church ministry, Phillips is well known across the Southern Baptist Convention and church music world as a composer and arranger, clinician and performer.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Campbellsville University and a master’s degree in music education from Western Kentucky University.
Phillips and his wife Janis are the parents of two adult sons.
The award was presented at the KBMC meeting held November 11 at Southside Baptist Church in Princeton.
