As of Dec. 31, 2013, Kentucky Baptists’ Cooperative Program giving totaled $6,654,050 compared to $6,545,414 in December 2012.
“Cooperative Program giving represents so much in Kentucky and Southern Baptist life,” said Paul Chitwood, executive director-treasurer of the Kentucky Baptist Convention. “Free consultation services to our churches, Baptist Campus Ministry programs all across the state, overseas missions, Super Saturday, church planting—the list goes on and on.
“Now that the New Year is off and running, I hope Kentucky Baptists who are unfamiliar with CP will take the initiative to learn more about how people are coming to faith in Christ through these sacrificial gifts,” he added.
It is during January and February when important budgetary decisions are made according to Lowell Ashby, leader of the KBC Finance & Business Services Team.
“This is always a critical period as the calendar and the budget years for many of our churches begin and we begin planning the Cooperative Program allocations for missions and ministries from Kentucky for the next fiscal year,” Ashby explained.
“Increased support through CP in January and February to meet our current budget will allow us to confidently plan for continued support of local, national and international causes next year,” he continued.
