The Kentucky Baptist Convention and Baptist Global Response have partnered together to meet emergency needs in Sub-Saharan Africa. Some updates from KBC Disaster Relief Associate Coy Webb on ministry and prayer opportunities in the region:
- South Sudan Crisis – God continues to harvest seeds from KY Baptist DR Assessment Team that worked with refugees in Uganda. Four boreholes (water wells) will begin being drilled for refugee camps in desperate need of water next week. Also, a young girl with severe disability that was identified in our assessment of camps received corrective surgery yesterday in God’s miraculous provision, and better news.. the girl and her family have all professed faith in Christ through the ongoing ministry of our national partners.
- KY Baptist Disaster Relief currently has our first well drilling team on the ground in Madagascar. This team has plans to drill two wells in villages needing clean water as they partner with IMB field strategists in Madagascar.
- Pray for continued response to 100,000 + refugees driven from their homes in South Sudan by violence and civil war. Pray for peace. Pray for adequate supplies as resources are short of need. Pray for our IMB missionaries and Ugandan national partners as they minister in difficult circumstances. Pray that God will bring His light to the darkness, and His hope to the hopeless.
- Pray for our team in Madagascar. Pray for good working weather, decent road conditions, and good drilling soil. Pray the team will be used by God to bring clean water and the living water of Christ to villages.
