Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief will remain on “Alert” status. Kentucky Baptists are not deploying nor have we been asked to deploy units or volunteers at current time.
- 10 states are responding to storm and tornadoes that swept across the south and central United States on Friday through Monday evening. Southern Baptist Disaster Relief is on the ground in these sites, but additional support from surrounding states not needed at this time. we will remain on “alert” as assessments are continuing in some areas and the need could change. Mississippi has asked that we leave units on “alert” as they are continuing assessment and could need our assistance as response continues.
- Kentucky had wind damage in Harlan County from yesterday’s storms. Damage was relatively minor, mostly power outages, and did not need response from disaster relief.
- Again, Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief will remain on “alert” status, but currently is not needed to respond.
Please be in prayer for states that have been pounded by deadly and severe storms stretching from Oklahoma to North Carolina, and tragically has left over 30 dead. Pray for God’s healing grace to those affected, and for SBC disaster relief volunteers responding to be God’s hands of mercy and hope.
