What is ASJHC?
The Kentucky Baptist All-State Junior High Choir is a 70+ voice choir for students in grades 7, 8, and 9. The goal of this choir is to keep musically talented youth involved and challenged in church music by addressing the social, spiritual, and musical needs unique to this age group. Each year the choir meets on the second weekend of November and the location is rotated to a different part of the state. This year the choir will rehearse at Ashland Avenue Baptist Church in Lexington. Members are selected by recorded audition. Once selected, members will not have to re-audition to participate in the choir for subsequent years, as long as the member is eligible by grade and participation.
Who can join?
Students in grades 7, 8 and 9 may audition. Each student should be active in a Kentucky Baptist Church. If this church has a youth choir, the student should be active in the choir.
Audition forms and instructions will be sent after your student has been registered, via their confirmation email. Completed audition forms and the recorded audition CD/DVD/MP3 should be submitted together to the KBC Worship and Music Department. Music ministers must submit a recorded audition of each student by Friday, Sept. 23. Auditions of all students from the same church may be recorded on one CD/DVD/MP3. MP3 auditions should be emailed to the choir coordinator, Matthew Bone, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
