CP Totals on Target through February

03/09/2010

LOUISVILLE – Halfway through the 2009-2010 fiscal year, Cooperative Program totals continue to keep pace with the Kentucky Baptist Convention’s working budget of $23 million for the fiscal year.

Kentucky Baptists gave $1,727,410 through the Cooperative Program in February, leaving totals for the fiscal year just 0.14 percent, or $16,110, behind pace for the $23 million working budget, said Lowell Ashby, Business Service Team leader for the KBC.

Kentucky Baptists have given a total of $11,483,890 so far this fiscal year, which began in September and will end in August. In order to stay on pace for the working budget, an average of $1,919,352 is needed each month for the remaining six months of the fiscal year, said Ashby.

According to Ashby, CP totals remain behind the original fiscal year budget of $24,480,000, now by 6.18 percent, or $756,110. However, because of the challenging national economy, the KBC is operating under the approved working budget of $23 million for the 2009-2010 fiscal year, he said.

“We are thankful that CP gifts are very close to being on target halfway through the fiscal year,” said Billy Compton, executive associate for Cooperative Program and resources. “Even as Kentucky Baptists actively engage in outreach this spring through ‘Find it Here,’ their sacrificial giving through the Cooperative Program is simultaneously enabling the gospel to be shared across the nation and across the globe.”

The Kentucky Baptist Convention is a cooperative missions and ministry organization made up of nearly 2.400 autonomous Baptist churches in Kentucky. A variety of state and worldwide ministries are coordinated through its administrative offices in Louisville, including: missions work, disaster relief, ministry training and support, church development, evangelism and more.
