Kentucky Changers goes way beyond your typical “summer camp” experience because it challenges Christian youth to become “On Mission” Christians. Because Kentucky Changers is a mission process, it will be a challenge for young and old believers to live out their faith while getting their hands dirty doing hard work. Kentucky Changers is a hands-on, youth oriented, “On Mission” experience existing to impact the world of all participants. Participants will work on exterior home repairs for low-income families identified by the partnering local government housing authority, as well as community development projects in the participating Baptist associations. Participants become personally involved in this intense week by making themselves available to be used. Participants will discover and live “missions as a lifestyle and not a location” as they make a difference in their world.

I want to commend Kentucky Changers for the great job that they did at our camp in March 2008. Kentucky Changers sent skilled leaders that helped us in our building program. They not only helped us in our building program they ministered to the students that were here to help. Thank you for helping our camp reach those in the area for Jesus Christ!

| A Prepackaged Mission Project |
Kentucky Changers offers each participating church a total pre-packaged project for the cost of $190 per person. Kentucky Changers is more than a sign-up and attend camp. While it is a pre-packaged mission program, participants are expected to engage in the mission preparation process before they arrive at their project. Through participant fees, the Kentucky Changers organization provides On Mission Discipleship materials; practical suggestions for pre and post project local mission projects; project food and housing; as well as all project work site preparations for all groups. Participants are expected to prepare themselves spiritually, physically, and evangelistically before they can join a project. These pre-project preparations are designed to prepare groups in three ways:
- CORPORATELY: Kentucky Changers is a team effort from start to finish. While at their project, participants will work on crews with students from other churches. An understanding of being on a team is a vital part for participants to learn prior to arriving. All church groups must plan to meet for five “On Mission” Training Sessions, using the provided “On Mission” Discipleship materials. These training sessions are tailored to lead participants (youth and adults) through elements of team building and personal evangelism. Each group is to meet for three sessions prior to their project, meet once during their project week, and finish the process with a follow-up meeting during the week immediately following the project.
- SPIRITUALLY: Kentucky Changers utilize The Blue Print to help them grow individually. This “On Mission” development guide is one of the primary tools for participants in their spiritual development. The Blue Print contains everything needed for personal spiritual preparation, except for a Bible. Participants are given three weeks of daily devotionals, dress code information as well as the weekly schedule in their copy of The Blue Print. Each participant is expected to work through this preparation guide.
- PHYSICALLY: Replacing roofs, installing siding or building a ramp is not easy labor and participants need to come ready for hard work. Physical preparation before participants arrive is a must. Each group is expected to plan and perform two local, hands-on, mission projects in their hometown as a part of Kentucky Changers. The first project needs to happen prior to their Kentucky Changers project date. This project provides a “hands-on” experience that gets bodies and minds working as a team together. The second project happens after the group returns home. Participants learn missions as a lifestyle through practicing at home and while they are away. Ideas for your local mission project, as well as for leading your group sessions, are enclosed in the “On Mission” Training Sessions portion of your Leader’s Notebook.

All Youth Projects
Middle school youth, high school youth, college age students and adult sponsors can participate in the All Youth Kentucky Changers projects. Middle School students must have completed their 7th grade year to participate in a project. Youth who have just completed the 6th grade are not old enough to participate. At All Youth Projects, students have the opportunity to participate in light and heavy construction projects or in community development projects. Middle School students at the project, will group together and participate in light construction or community-related projects but will not be permitted to work on roofs or tall structures like scaffold. Adult sponsors must be twenty-one years old or older.
College Age Participation
College age young adults are also encouraged to join the 2009 Kentucky Changers College Blitz scheduled for March 4-18, 2009 in Morehead, Ky, as it will offer special projects and worship experiences for college age adults.
The Kentucky Changers College Blitz is for students who want to live out their faith and become "On Mission" Christians. While assisting in the construction of a Habitat for Humanity house, students discover how to live “missions as a lifestyle and not a location." It’s a hands-on experience that is physically challenging and spiritually rewarding.
During the project, young adults from throughout the state will work together to help construct a new home for someone in need. They'll also be given a copy of the Blue Print – a Changers devotional resource – to use during the project. Evenings are filled with worship and fellowship, and all participants will stay overnight in classrooms at Morehead Baptist Church.

Youth Projects Schedule Overview
As the Saturday participants arrive, they are mixed with youth from other churches to begin the team building process. Sunday morning, before participants go to area churches, they are divided into work crews. Crews will spend Sunday building teams as they prepare for their work site. Crews will consist of at least two to three persons from each church. When the work-week begins on Monday, each team is ready to work on the home of a family in a high-need community. They may do such tasks as door or window repair, carpentry, painting, siding, or roofing. Middle School participants will be able to work on light construction or community projects but cannot work on roofs or tall structures. Each evening is filled with fun and fellowship, group sharing times, and an exciting worship experience. Groups depart for home the following Saturday after the Saturday morning worship send-off.
