Welcome to worship! What a wonderful day to come together and worship. This morning is the first Sunday of the year 2002. There are so many wonderful things that are going to happen this year. Some of you will lose your first tooth this year. For some of you 2002 will be the year you will learn to ride a bike. Some other great things that may happen are birthdays, learning to read, or making a first hit in baseball. All these things are very special to us. Do you know that they are special to God? God cares about everything that happens to us. The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 29:11 that God has a plan for each of us. (Have your Bible open and read the verse). There will not be a day in the year 2002 that God will not be thinking about us. He will always care about what is happening in our lives every day. What a wonderful way to start the year!
Pray thanking God for a New Year and His presence with us daily.

Welcome! You bring a smile to my face this morning. Today I want to talk with you about the seasons. Who knows what season it is? (Wait for response). Yes, it is winter. Did you know that God created the seasons? He sure did. In Genesis 1:14 (have your Bible open to the passage) we read that God created the seasons, days and years. I think it is so wonderful that God created the different seasons. In winter we can celebrate the cold weather. Some people who don’t like cold weather may not believe this but it is true. Some of the things I am thankful for in winter are hot chocolate, warm blankets, mittens, earmuffs and a warm fire in the fireplace. All these things help me stay warm even when it is very cold outside. I am glad God gave us the season of Winter.
Pray thanking God for winter and the joy of each season.

Good morning! I am glad to worship with you this morning. Today I want to share with you a story about a man who needed help. This story is found in the New Testament book of Acts. (have your Bible opened to Acts 8:26-40), This man was a very smart man. In fact, he was the treasure r for an entire country. He had lots of responsibilities. He does not seem like a person who would need help but he did. One day he was reading the Bible and he did not understand what he was reading. It’s not very much fun to not understand what you are reading. He must have been very happy when along came someone who wanted to help him understand the Bible. God sent a man named Phillip to help him understand the Bible. Do you know that God sends special people into your lives to help you? They are your Sunday School teachers, Missions teachers, Music Teachers, Discipleship teachers, moms, dads and grandparents. (You can add or omit which ever teachers your church has). All of these people want to help you know how to live for Jesus and do what the Bible says. I am glad God put these special people in your lives.
Pray thanking God for the special people in boys and girls lives. Pray thanking Him especially for the teachers and leaders at church.

Welcome! I am glad to share this time with you. This is the last Sunday in the month of January. Time sure does go by fast. We are going to start a new month in a few days. One of the things I have noticed about the months of January and February is how early it gets dark. In the summer we can play outside past 9 PM at night. This is not so in the winter months. It usually gets dark before dinner I am so glad that we have lights to help us see. The lights in our house help us to be able to see to cook dinner, do homework, and read the Bible. I can’t imagine not having lights to see at night. Do you know that Jesus said we are to be like lights? He sure did. (Read Matthew 5:14-16). We are to let the world see us living for Jesus. We will be like lights shinning for Jesus.
Pray thanking God for the opportunity to live for Him.
Suggested Song: “This Little Light of Mine”

Good morning! I am so glad to see you this morning. It is wonderful to be able to worship together. February is a very special month. Does anyone know what holiday we celebrate in February? (Wait for responses. If the children give other holidays such as President’s Day or their own birthdays acknowledge their responses. Give hints about Valentine’s Day if the children can’t guess). That’s right, Valentine’s Day is in February. Every Sunday this month we will have a special Bible story about God’s love. This morning our story is found in Matthew 10:30 (Open your Bible to this passage). Jesus is talking to the people about God’s love. He tells them about how much God loves them. He told them that God even knows how many hairs are on their head. That is amazing! God knows us so well and loves us so much that he know everything about us. I am so glad God loves us that much.
Pray thanking God for knowing us so well and loving us so much

Hello! I am glad to share with you during this special time in worship, Last week I told you that this month we would be learning about God’s love. Today’s verse is one of the most important verses you will ever hear. Many of you may already know this verse. It is John 3:16. Read the verse. (Have your Bible open to the verse even if you recite the verse from memory). This verse tells us that God loves us so much that he sent something special to us. He didn’t sent Valentine cars, candy or flowers. He wanted to send the very best thing that he could. He sent His son, Jesus. Jesus did many wonderful things on earth to show God’s love. He told people about God’s love, he healed people and made sick people well. In everything Jesus did he let people know about the love of God. I am glad God loves us enough that He sent Jesus.
Pray thanking God for showing His love by sending Jesus.

Good morning! I am so glad you are here so I can share another story about God’s love. Our story is found in Mark 4:35 – 39. (Open your Bible to this passage). This story tells us about a time when some friends of Jesus were frightened. Do you have certain things that scare you? (Wait for responses). Jesus and his friends were in a boat going across a lake. All of a sudden a huge storm came on the lake. Waves were so big they were making the boat sink. The friends were so scared and frightened. They found Jesus and let him know how scared they were. Jesus stood up and told the waves to be still. Guess what? The winds stopped and the storm was gone. Jesus’ friends learned a lesson that day. They learned to trust Jesuse when they are scared. Jesus cares about us too. When there are things in out lives that scare us like storms, big dogs, loud noises, or the dark, we need to remember how much Jesus loves us. He will help us not to be afraid.
Pray thanking God for His love and protection.

Welcome! Today I want to share with you a familiar story. Many of you will know this story. It is a wonderful story of God’s love for people. The story is about Zacchaeus and is found in Luke 19:1 –10. (Please open your Bible to this passage). Zacchaeus was a very wealthy man. He had lots of money. He did not know that Jesus loved him. One day Zacchaeus heard that Jesus was coming to town. He was so excited that he ran ahead of the crowd and climbed a tree to get a good view of Jesus. As Jesus came walking by he stopped and that tree and called Zacchaeus by name. He told Zacchaeus to come down from the tree and take him home to eat. Zacchaeus was so excited that Jesus knew his name. He found out that not only did Jesus know his name but that Jesus loved him too! Zacchaeus life was changed forever. Jesus knows your name. He loves you too. What an awesome thing to know!
Pray thanking God that he not only knows our names but also knows all about us and loves us still.

Good morning! Do you like to sing? Many of us like to sing. Today I want to tell you a story about a man who loved to sing. He loved to sing so much I bet that he sang almost every day of his life. His songs were very special. The songs he sang are not songs you will hear on the radio or t.v. Yet they are some of the most famous songs on earth. Do you know where they might be found? (Wait for responses). They are found in the Bible. David is the man who loved to sing. Even when he became a king he didn’t quit writing songs. His songs are found in the book of Psalms. Let’s read one. Read Psalms 100. Wow, what an awesome song! I am glad we have the songs that David wrote in the Bible. It is great to be able to praise God.
Pray thanking God for the ability to lift our voices in song to Him.

Welcome! I am glad that you are my friends and that you have come to worship today. I have a story today about some friends. They were very good friends. We have the story of their friendship in the Bible. The story is found in Mark 2:1012. (Please have your Bible open to the story). There was a man who could not walk. One day Jesus came to town. Jesus went to a home and began teaching the people. The man who could not walk wanted to see Jesus but there was no way for him to get to the house by himself. He had friends though who cared for him very much. His friends decided to carry the man to see Jesus. They carried the man on his bed to the house where Jesus was teaching. They were such good friends to help the man get to the house. When they got to the house the friends were sad. The house was so full of people that their friend who could not walk would not be able to get inside. The friends did an amazing thing. They climbed on the roof and made a hole in the ceiling. They lowered their friend through the roof to Jesus. Jesus saw the man and knew his friends loved him very much. Jesus healed the man and made him walk again. I am glad the man had such good friends. I am glad I have you for my friends too.
Pray thanking God for the friends we have in our lives.

Good morning! Thank you for coming to join me this morning. I like to thank people when I have the chance. There is a story in the Bible that reminds us that we need to say thank you. (Open your Bible to Luke 17:11-19). The story is about 10 men who were sick. They had a very bad disease called leprosy. The men were not happy because the disease made the feel miserable. Jesus was traveling through the town where these men lived. When Jesus saw the men, he healed them. Nine of the men went away and did not say thank you to Jesus. Only one remembered to come and thank Jesus for what he had done. Jesus was very happy that the one man said thank you. He wondered why the other nine did not say thank you. I am glad that we can learn from this story. I hope we remember to tell people thank you. I hope we can also remember to tank God too. Let’s thank God right now.
Pray thanking God for all he has given us. Ask God to help us remember to say thank you to others.
Suggested Song: “Blessed Assurance, Jesus Is Mine”

Welcome! We come to worship this morning to praise Jesus. Did you know that over 2,000 years ago people gathered together on a day like this to praise Jesus? They sure did. They were not in ac church building praising Jesus like we are but rather they were in the city streets of Jerusalem. Jesus was coming to Jerusalem to celebrate a special time with his friends. When the people of the town heard that Jesus was coming they lined the streets to see him and praise him. They didn’t have balloons or streamers to wave so they used branches from palm trees. They called out Jesus’ name and sang praises to him. We call today Palm Sunday in honor of this special day. I am glad we can come together and still praise Jesus today. I am glad we are joining people all over the world celebrating how much we love Jesus.
Pray thanking God for the honor to praise His son Jesus.
Suggested Song: “Praise Him! Praise Him!"

Good morning! I should say, “Great morning” because that is what it is. It is such a very, very special day today. Who knows what today is? (Wait for responses). Yes, it is Easter Sunday. It is the greatest day of celebrating Christians have. In the book of Luke (Luke 24:1-7) we read the story of the first Easter. (Have your Bible opened to the reference verses). In this story we hear three of the greatest words ever said. I want you to listen closely for the three words. Jesus’ friends were sad that Jesus had died. Some of them were together early in the morning that first Easter. They were thinking about their friend Jesus as they walked to the garden tomb where Jesus had been put. When his friends got to the garden they saw an angel who told them that Jesus was not dead but that HE IS RISEN! Did you hear the three words? HE IS RISEN! Let’s say those words together – HE IS RISEN! Let’s let the whole church join in with us – HE IS RISEN! Today these three words are still the greatest words anyone can hear. Jesus is not dead, He is risen!
Pray thanking God for the greatest words ever heard in history!
