| July Theme -- Missionaries |
July 6th—Welcome to worship today. Thank you for joining us for the Children’s Sermon. Who can tell me something special about the month of July? (They may tell you many wonderful things.) Remind them that during the month of July many people go on mission trips. Regular people get to be missionaries. They get to tell others about Jesus during Vacation Bible School, while they sing special songs or build buildings. Today there are a group of 32 people from Kentucky in Switzerland. They are loving and teaching about 150 children while their parents go to the European Baptist Convention. The children and teachers will be enjoying Vacation Bible School together later today. It is very early morning there. Read Matthew 28:18-20. You can be a missionary too by telling others about Jesus. Let’s pray together. (Pray asking God to be with our team in Switzerland and with each of us as we tell others about Jesus.) Suggested hymn: “Tell the Good News” on page 566.
July 13th—Thank you for coming to worship today. Thank you for coming up front for our time together. Last week we talked about why July is special. We even prayed for some people. Do you remember what the people from Kentucky have been doing this week? Our missionaries from Kentucky will return tonight from Europe. They have been working with children in Vacation Bible School in Switzerland. Did you know that teenagers go on mission trips too? Every year young people go to M-Fuge. M-Fuge stands for Mission Fuge. While students in grades 7-12 are there they get to play games, do drama, build and paint buildings and sometimes they just do nice things. They do these things in the United States and around the world. They help others and tell them about Jesus. Read Ephesians 4:32. You are a missionary when you do things for others. Let’s have a prayer. (Pray asking God to be with all of our young people who will go to M-Fuge this summer. Ask God to help us to be kind and tell others about Jesus.) Suggested hymn: “Share His Love” on page 567.
July 20th—Welcome to worship today! All month long we have been talking about who missionaries are and what they do. Do you remember? Yes, missionaries are people who tell others about Jesus. Missionaries tell people about Jesus in many places. Did you know that families sometimes go on mission trips? Moms, Dads, boys and girls go places or stay in their own towns. Sometimes they serve food to people who have no homes, sing at nursing homes, visit people in the hospital or give food or clothes to people who are in need. They tell other people that Jesus loves them. Read Galatians 6:9-10. The Bible tells us that when we have the chance we should do good things. (Pray that God will help us to do good things and tell others about Him.) Suggested hymn: “Make Me a Blessing” on page 569.
July 27th—I am so glad that you are here today. Thank you for coming. This is July and we have been talking about one special thing all month. What is the special thing we have been talking about? Yes, we have talked about people who tell others about Jesus. What do we call these people? That’s right, they are missionaries. Did you know that you are a missionary? Listen to these words from Colossians 3:12-14. God has chosen us and He loves us. He wants us to be kind, humble, gentle, patient and to love others. Let’s ask God to help us be the people He wants us to be. (Pray together.) Suggested hymn: “Let Others See Jesus in You” on page 571.
