August
3rd—Welcome to worship today! Thank you for joining us for the Children’s Sermon. Last month was the anniversary of a very special day. On July 20, 1969 people walked on the moon for the very first time. Neil Armstrong stepped out of his space ship and said “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” It was a great day. The Bible tells us about when the moon was made and Who made it. Read Genesis 1:1 from your Bible. We celebrated the first time a human being walked on the moon. Today we celebrate God Who made everything. Pray thanking God for making the earth, moon, stars and everything. Suggested hymn: “This Is My Father’s World” on page 43.

10th—Welcome! I am so glad that you came to church today. Today I want to tell you about some families who met Jesus. The Bible tells us in Mark chapter 10 that people brought their children to Jesus because they wanted Him to touch them. The disciples did not want the families to bother Jesus. Jesus told the disciples to let the children come to Him. He was upset that someone would not allow children to see Him. Jesus did see the children. Verse 16 says He took the children in His arms, touched them and blessed them. Read I John 4:19, we love because He first loved us. Pray thanking God for sending Jesus. Ask Him to help us love each other because He first loved us. Suggested hymn: “Oh, How I Love Jesus” on page 217.

17th—I am so glad you are here today. It is a great day to be at church. Soon many of you will begin the first day of something. What are you about to begin? (They will have many answers. Hopefully they will also talk about school.) School will start for many of you soon. Sometimes people worry about the first day to start something new. You will do many exciting things at school this year. You will have a lot of fun and learn new things. You will make new friends. Did you know that people will be praying for you as you start a new year? We will pray together in a moment for you and for your teachers. You can pray about the New Year too. Read I Peter 5:7. The Bible reminds us that whenever we are concerned about something we can talk with God because He cares for us. Pray together asking God to be with each child and teacher as they begin a new year together. Suggested hymn: “When I Pray” on page 460.

24th—Happy Sunday! It is good to have you with us today. Do you know people who worry about things? Most of us worry sometimes, but other people worry all the time. Some people worry about what they will wear or what they will eat. The Bible tells us in Matthew chapter 6 that we do not need to worry. God takes care of the animals and plants. God cares for us. Read Matthew 6:33. To seek means to look for something. The Bible says to look first for God. Pray thanking God for taking care of our needs. Suggested hymn: “Seek Ye First” on page 478.

31st—Welcome! I am glad that you are here today. Tomorrow is a holiday. Does anyone know the name of the holiday? It is called “Labor Day.” Labor is another word for work. Adults spend much of their time doing work. What work do you do? (Listen to their responses.) How do you feel about your work? (Listen again.) Does the Bible have anything to say about how we should do our work? Read Colossians 3:23. We should work like we are working for God. Verse 17 also tells us to give thanks. On Labor Day we take a break from work. We need to be thankful for our work. We should do everything for God. Pray thanking God for work. Ask Him to help us do everything for Him. Suggested hymn: “Make Me a Blessing” on page 569.
