Created by churches, for churches, to help churches reach Kentucky and the world for Christ

Breaking the Silence

Saturday, August 25
9 a.m.-1 p.m.

The consequences of the opioid crisis reaches into every community, affecting every family and church.  We all know someone who has suffered under this scourge and it demands a response. We must not remain silent. The opioid crisis is an epidemic that demands further engagement by the church.

If we are going to rescue those ensnared by opioids, churches must be willing to offer help while working to transform the heart. This starts by breaking the silence and learning how to practically love those struggling with addiction.

Cost: $10

Breaking the Silence will equip church leaders and families to:

  • Understand the addicted brain
  • Find practical assistance and legal leverage for families
  • Learn how prevention provides hope
  • Reach out with compassion and grace
  • Identify and understand treatment options
  • Understand that stigma and language matters
  • Discover useful resources

Breaking the Silence will feature two main teaching sessions with music by Isaiah House's Rise Up band and multiple break-out opportunities led by experienced professionals.

Presenters include Dr. Mike Kalfas, Dr. Eric Johnson, Jason Merrick, Claudia Smith, Rachel Gosney, Jean Schumm, Arlene Boehnlein-Rice, Jon Cyrus and others.

This training event is sponsored by the Kentucky Baptist Convention Missions Mobilization Team and provided by Cooperative Program gifts.
