Pastors’ Conference 2021

Join us for the Pastors’ Conference at Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown on November 15, 2021.
This year’s theme is “Press On” with the aim to encourage those who have ministered through this difficult season in a pandemic and to challenge them to press on in their ministry.

Staff Revivalist, Red Team, Life Action Ministries
Gregg Simmons is a graduate of Baylor University and Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as a local church pastor for almost thirty years, most recently as the lead pastor of Church at the Cross in Grapevine, Texas. In 2007, Gregg began serving as a part-time staff revivalist with Life Action Ministries before accepting an invitation to serve full time in 2013. He is an experienced family counselor, family life speaker, and Bible conference speaker, and has served on advisory boards for community, state, and national ministries. He has a great passion to see spiritual renewal in the home, church, and nation. Gregg and his wife, Patti, have been married since 1981 and have three grown children, a son-in-law, and a daughter-in-law.
Lead Pastor, Crossroads Baptist Church, Woodlands, Texas
Marcus Hayes is lead pastor at Crossroads Baptist Church, The Woodlands, Texas, and serves as president of Moody Bible Institute’s Alumni Association Board. After graduating from Moody, he earned an MA in Theological Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Marcus is currently pursuing a doctoral degree from Anderson University’s Clamp Divinity School. Marcus is married to Mandy, and they have three daughters, Sarai, Amaya, and Naomi.
Senior Pastor, First Baptist Church, Pelham, Alabama
Daven Watkins became the senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Pelham, Alabama in March 2015. Before coming to Pelham, he served for nearly seven years as the senior pastor of the First Baptist Church Pleasant Grove in Pleasant Grove, Alabama and before then he served as senior pastor for eight years at First Baptist Church in Owenton, Kentucky. He received his undergraduate degree in history from Georgetown College in 1996. In December 1999 he received his Master of Divinity degree from Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, Alabama and in May 2008 he received a Doctor of Ministry degree in Preaching from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary outside Boston, Massachusetts. Daven is married to Jane Ellen, and they are the parents of two children – Molly Grace and Nathan.
Jared C. Wilson
Author and Professor, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
Jared C. Wilson serves as Assistant Professor of Pastoral Ministry, Author in Residence, and General Editor of “For the Church” at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition, he serves as the director of the Pastoral Training Center at Liberty Baptist Church. He’s the author of numerous books, including Gospel Wakefulness, The Prodigal Church, The Pastor’s Justification, Supernatural Power for Everyday People, The Gospel Driven Church, and most recently Gospel Driven Ministry. Jared’s writing has appeared in numerous resources and magazines, and he blogs regularly at “For The Church” and “The Gospel Coalition.” He and his wife Becky have been married for twenty-three years, and they have two daughters: Macy and Grace.
Senior Pastor, Cross Pointe Church, Duluth, Georgia
James Merritt is the Senior Pastor of Cross Pointe Church in Duluth, Georgia. He is the host of a nationwide and worldwide broadcast ministry, Touching Lives. He earned a Master of Divinity degree and a PhD in Evangelism from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He previously served as President of the Southern Baptist Convention from 2000 to 2002. Dr. Merritt is the author of numerous books, most recently Character Still Counts. He and his wife, Teresa, have three sons and four grandchildren.
