Crestwood Baptist Church, Frankfort
Frankfort—Crestwood Baptist Church in Frankfort celebrated its 75th anniversary on April 23. Over 150 people attended the celebration.
The church, founded in 1942 by William Cook and 16 members, and led by Pastor Mike Butler since 2016, recently celebrated a portion of the road in front of the church being dedicated to Wallace Kent, pastor there for 38 years who passed away in 2012.
“Crestwood is committed not only to sharing God’s love in the church and the community but also throughout the world,” its members said in a history of the church complied for the occasion. In its 75 years, the church has grown to 700 members and eight staff members.
“The impact Crestwood is making on God’s kingdom today is possible only because of past generations of devoted believers. Although human limitations do not allow us to know all of their names and the impact each has made, God heard each prayer and blessed and multiplied each act of obedience to expand His kingdom,” the history continued.
An anniversary celebration was held, with former staff members and interim pastors reflecting on their time with the congregation as well as worship being led by former music ministers. Also in attendance was Stanley Salchli, an active member in his 90s, who has been a member since 1947, and Judy Goodman, a member since 1957 and part of the anniversary committee. Salchli gave the invitation.
“It’s an honor for me to serve as pastor of this church. I feel so blessed standing on the shoulders of all the great men who served as pastor of this church prior to my calling. Their pastoral leadership and sacrifices of service charted upon the simple biblical responsibility of each generation teaching the next generation how to praise the mighty acts of God,” Butler told those in attendance.
