The Kentucky Baptist Convention Junior High Choir is a 70-plus voice choir for students in grades 7 through 9. The goal of the choir is to keep musically talented youth involved and challenged in church music by addressing the social, spiritual, and musical needs unique to this age group. Each year the choir meets on the second weekend of November and the location is rotated to a different part of the state.
Members are selected by recommendation from their Music Minister. Once selected members will be able to participate each year with the JHC, as long as the student remains eligible by grade and participation.
Students in grades 7, 8 and 9 may audition. Each student should be active in a Kentucky Baptist Church. If this church has a youth choir, the student should be active in it.
Kentucky Baptist music ministers will complete a recommendation form for each student being recommended. The director will need to know complete information on each student prior to completing the form. The director’s recommendation is evaluated and the student will be notified of his or her acceptance into the JHC.
Upon notification of acceptance, students should register online as soon as possible. Once students are registered, they and their parents will receive regular updates with instructions, deadlines, dates, trip preparation and other important information.
Yes, the registration fee for a student is $250.
Registration for returning students will be available September 1 of each year. Once a student is registered, they and their parents will receive regular updates with instructions, deadlines, dates, trip preparation and other important information.
