Associational Emphasis Week is observed each year in May. The Eliza Broadus Offering is helping Kentucky Baptist associations do a variety of missions work. We have already received two reports from the $500 grant given to each association in February.

Tim Cole, director of missions, reported that with the help of students from Christian Fellowship Elementary School, Blood River Association prepared 50 Easter baskets to be given out at the association’s Bags of Hope Food Pantry. Each basket included Christian materials as well as candy. The association also prepared 50 boxes to distribute to veterans. These boxes include socks, snacks, and a coloring page done by the students. “The Bags of Hope parents greatly appreciate the Easter baskets and the veterans really appreciate being remembered,” said Cole.

Glynn Copeland, director of missions for Graves County Baptist Association, shared that they used the EBO grant to help Generations Adult Day Services in Mayfield. This is a facility that serves adults with Alzheimer’s Disease and/or dementia. Services include medical supervision, personal care, social interaction and meals. Graves County Association appreciates the opportunity to assist a ministry in the community.

In the accountability reports for the 2016 grants, associations reported on their involvement with ministries such as First Priority, evangelism outreach, construction ministries, mission trips, prison ministry, ministries to First Responders, Disciple Now ministry, Disaster Relief, Hispanic outreach, Love Loud service projects, homeless ministries and much more.

White’s Run Baptist Association had a “Give the Word” booth at the Carroll County Tobacco Festival in 2016. Their goal was to give out 200 Bibles, John-Romans scripture portions, evangelistic tracts and free bottles of water. They were excited to report that they gave out 700 Bibles and New Testaments, about 200 of “The Life Book,” and 15 cases of water. This was a cooperative project with six White’s Run Association churches, Kentucky Raceway Ministries, and the local Gideons group. Robert Young, director of missions, reported “We gave away every scripture we had available to us.”

Ten Mile Baptist Association used part of their grant for prison ministry. David Marlow, director of missions, reported “The prison ministry regularly has professions of faith through the Bible lessons mailed, returned, and grades by the Ten Mile Committee. To date over 200!”
