A legacy church is one who makes a conscious and planned decision to gift their assets (often a building, property, finances, etc) to a church plant or a sister church who will assume these gifts and restart the church.

In the church planting world this is called church replanting. Legacy church restarts are a great option for churches who are currently few in number, have seen a heavy decline in number over a period of time, lack leadership (or cannot find leadership), and other issues. If your congregation has been in decline, please reach out to your local Associational Missions Strategist for help. A study has shown that over 3,000 churches die each year. Sadly, many of these will lose a Kingdom impact as their physical resources will not be used toward the furtherance of the gospel with local partnering churches. See the resources below that may help you and your church to either learn more about how your church may benefit from gifting your resources or how you can partner with a declining church toward health.
