Louisville– An amazingly simple, yet powerful evangelism tool called LIFEproject is on its way to Kentucky Baptist churches that will help pastors mobilize their members to reach their neighborhoods with the gospel like never before.
“Pastors are busy people. They need resources that are easy-to-use, yet highly effective at igniting hearts to reach the unchurched in their communities,” said Chuck McAlister, Kentucky Baptist Convention Evangelism, Church Planting and Collegiate Ministries team leader.
“LIFEproject is just that resource,” he said.
Beginning mid-November, Southern Baptist churches across the state will open their mailboxes to find two complimentary LIFEproject booklets: a leader’s guide and a members’ guide. Inside the 20-page booklets, pastors will find the outline of a proven strategy to help people encounter Jesus through affinity evangelism.
“People are hungry for authentic relationships,” said KBC Affinity Evangelism Strategist Andy McDonald. “With LIFEproject, churches can create avenues to build those relationships within the community and, more importantly, point people to a real and authentic relationship with Christ.”
Affinities can be built around mutual interest in sports, hobbies, schools or places of work. Others affinity groups can be focus on community needs, such as addictions, family finances, or helping newcomers adjust to life as migrant workers.
The booklets walk participants through a 14-week process that includes church assessment, leadership development and vision casting for engaging an affinity group. LIFEproject is a creation of McAlister and his evangelism team, and infused with their decades of experience in evangelism ministry.
McAlister said more information about LIFEproject will be presented at the Kentucky Baptist Convention Annual Meeting Nov. 10 at Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown.
