BOWLING GREEN — A Bowling Green pastor, whose church baptizes more people than any Kentucky Baptist church, will be coaching pastors on effective evangelism.
Hillvue Heights Church Lead Pastor Steve Ayers, in partnership with the Kentucky Baptist Convention, will lead a series of evangelism seminars created for pastors, church planters, directors of missions and church staff who want to grow as evangelistic leaders.
“Those who attend will be challenged, encouraged and enjoy good fellowship,” said Todd Gray, leader of the KBC’s Evangelism, Church Planting and Collegiate Ministries team.
Ayers will offer the ReFocus: Evangelistic Coaching sessions in the spring and fall, with nine opportunities stretching from Northern Kentucky to Paducah. Spring locations include Madisonville, Little Bethel Baptist Association, March 9; Hopkinsville, Christian County Baptist Association, March 23; and Paducah, West Union Baptist Association, April 27.
Ayers will address topics like:
– What is evangelistic preaching?
– How to become a more evangelistic leader
– What are baptism prayer goals?
– How to extend an evangelistic invitation
– Too cold? Time to raise the evangelistic temperature in church
“Steve is a great encouragement to pastors in churches of all sizes,” Gray said. “He likes to say he has pastored churches from 30 people to a megachurch all in one location, as Hillvue Heights has grown over the years.”
Ayers was called to serve at Hillvue Heights in 1991. In that first year, the church saw 16 people come to know Christ through believer’s baptism. Last year, that number was 504. Over the last 10 years, the church has averaged about 516 baptisms annually.
Each ReFocus event is free and will begin at noon with lunch and end by 2:30 p.m. Registration for ReFocus is now available for the spring sessions. For more dates and locations, visit www.kybaptist.org/refocus. (KBC)
