Greenup County—A Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief trip to help a Greenup County woman with a fallen tree on her mobile home ended with her being left with verses reassuring her, “once saved, always saved.”

Bonnie Price, regional coordinator with Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief in Greenup County, and Bob Kerr, a long-time DR volunteer, were part of a team designated to help a woman who had an 80-foot tree fall on her home.

Although the lady had friends helping remove the tree, Price and Kerr checked on her to make sure everything was getting done.

“We got to talk to her about a relationship with the Lord, and she did inform us that she had asked Jesus into her heart many years ago and that she was saved,” Price said.

But she wasn’t secure in her salvation, he added. “With this particular incident, we ministered to her spiritually. We led her through some reassuring verses in the Bible,” Kerr said. “That was real comforting to her.”

He continued, “My initial reaction was God placed me there especially since I did know this lady, but had not seen her in years. It was just a blessing to be used in that that way.”

The two left her with a Bible and some tracts.

Disaster Relief teams have completed 16 chainsaw jobs, 10 flood recovery jobs, and nine home repairs following recent winter storms and floods across the state. The help provided opened the door for 28 gospel presentations that saw four decisions for Christ. Additionally, 21 Bibles were distributed. (WR)
