Dr. Carlos De la Barra has served faithfully on the Kentucky Baptist Convention Mission Board Staff for 15 years. Carlos began his service with the Kentucky Baptist Convention in April of 2007 as a Church Planting Associate with an emphasis in Multi Language focused churches. Since then, he has held the positions of Church Planting Director and Campus Ministry Director where he oversees the work of three church planting associates and eight regional campus ministers. Carlos demonstrates exceptional administrative capacity and a true entrepreneurial spirit. As a manager, he exercises great care in making sure that each team member has all that he or she needs to carry out their mission and assignments. As a leader, he invests into the ongoing development of others to help them reach their fullest potential. Dr. De La Barra is originally from Chile where he earned a degree in Computer Science along with a Master of Business Administration from Catholic University. He moved to the states in 1991 to pursue a Master of Divinity Degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, which he completed in 1995. He has since completed a Doctor of Ministry in Missions, also from SBTS. After completing his studies, Carlos and his family remained in the United States to plant churches in South Carolina, Indiana, and Kentucky. Carlos’s successes in life have been made possible by Cristina, his wife and true partner for nearly 50 years now. They have three daughters and one son: Maria, Paz, Carla, and Felipe. They also have eleven amazing grandchildren. Carlos continues to bring his best for the Lord and Kentucky Baptists on a daily basis. The same entrepreneurial spirit still shines brightly in his eyes when presented opportunities to pursue something new to help churches.
