Larry Purcell has served Kentucky Baptists as West Regional Consultant since 2017. He spent over 20 years serving as a pastor and another 20 years serving as a professor at both Southern Seminary and Southeastern Seminary. Traveling across the western region of the KBC, Larry seeks opportunities to assist and encourage pastors and church leaders through needed trainings, resources, and coaching. He is married to Terri and they have a daughter, Dawn, and two grandchildren, Abbygail and Chase.
How Larry helps churches:
Larry Purcell serves as the West Regional Church Consultant for the Kentucky Baptist Convention since 2017. Larry serves the pastors and churches of western Kentucky by providing ongoing coaching, mentoring, and counsel. He travels across the region providing training for deacon ministry, church security, leadership development, training pastor search teams, facility usage study, capital campaigns, and other needed trainings. He has joined the KBC CCR Team in writing several resources. Some of these available resources are Lead to Revitalize, Deacon Ministry Guidebook, and For the Kingdom’s Sake. He served as a pastor for over 20 years. Larry served as professor of leadership and discipleship at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He published articles and contributed chapters to textbooks on leading change and resolving conflict. Larry earned the PH.D. in Leadership from Southern Seminary.
