Louisville—Helping Hands Ministry’s trailer filled with clothes, blankets and coats for the homeless was stolen from Valley View Church in southern Louisville.
It was later recovered, and Pastor Matt Morris believes that none of the items inside it were missing.
The thief cut through a fence and a lock to take the trailer out of the parking lot by the church’s food pantry. While the trailer was missing, the church continued its ministry to hundreds of individuals living on the streets of Louisville.
Helping Hands serves dinner to the homeless on Monday nights, as well as distributes clothing items like those stolen in the trailer.
“We have people that come here that have addictions of all kinds, mental illness and they don’t know how to survive. If it weren’t for the donations, people giving jackets and hats and gloves, they wouldn’t survive,” a man who goes by “Army John” told WDRB news.
Before an arrest was made or the trailer was found, Morris told WDRB, “We don’t know their circumstances but what we do know is we’ve already forgiven them.”
On Dec. 3, a 31-year-old Louisville man was charged with stealing the trailer. (WR)
