New student Joshua Stahl is one of our many students who have come to Clear Creek from Ohio through the years. He is thankful for the learning that is taking place in his life now in and out of the classroom.
“I was born to two 20-year olds in a farming community who divorced before I was two years old,” said Stahl. “I don’t remember them ever being together.
“My father accepted Christ as his Savior when I was 11 years old, which made my family very happy,” he said. “I was saved around that time as well. I was at a chapel meeting at my Christian School, fully believing that I was saved until the preacher preached an incredible message one morning at our chapel service. I knew what God had told me, but I was afraid of admitting that I was not saved. I waited until Sunday, when God used my pastor’s message to convict me again that I needed to be saved.
“Neither myself nor my father knew that we had both made the decision until we saw each other nearly a month later,” Stahl added. “We were so happy for each other. Two months after that, he passed away in a swimming accident. I was devastated.
“Years later, the same preacher who preached that chapel message at my Christian school came into my life again, and I knew that God was calling me into ministry,” said Stahl. “I didn’t know a specific area at the time, but over the years I have come to believe that God is calling me into foreign missions as an English teacher and church planter.
“I have learned so much already during my short time here at Clear Creek,” he said. “God has shown me much more outside of the classroom than I had expected. I’ve had so many godly conversations with other students and with professors and staff members that I honestly had not expected. My eyes have already been opened to issues in my life that I was unaware of as well as a wealth of theological knowledge and understanding that abides on this campus.
“If God is calling you to ministry training, you would do well to consider Clear Creek,” said Stahl. “Everyone here is loving, understanding, and wise. You will learn so much in and out of the classroom.”
