One of the enjoyable things about serving at Clear Creek is being able to watch how God moves in the lives of families whom He leads to our campus. Initially, one spouse will feel called to campus to train for the ministry calling God has placed on their life, then many times the spouse will experience a call to train for ministry also.
Our group of new students for this fall semester involves a spouse who is a new student, but not new to campus. Robin Fisher came to Clear Creek with her husband, Matt, last fall when Matt surrendered to God’s call on his life to do ministry. They have been happily married for 17 years and have three bright and adorable children, Wyman (11), Ruby (8), and Flint (4).
“The kids have settled to life at Clear Creek pretty well, though they miss their cousins back home,” said Robin. “We are so thankful that Clear Creek provides affordable housing for families like ours to come and live on campus. The move was much easier for us to make, knowing we had a house to come and stay in during our time in eastern Kentucky.”
The trip to get to Kentucky was not a quick drive. The family came all the way from California, a drive that totaled about 36 hours of driving time.
“We hope that we can be a testament to our children in showing them about following and trusting in God by moving so far from home,” said Robin. “We do miss our family and friends, but we know without a doubt that this is where God has placed us. I also know that this is where we will receive the book and Bible knowledge to effectively minister to others wherever God plants us in the future.
“I want to use my time here at Clear Creek to learn as much as I can to assist my husband in ministry,” said Robin. I also want to obtain a master’s degree in psychology one day. I think it is important to learn all I can about the Bible first and use that as my foundational base for counseling others along with my psychology degree.”
Thank you, Kentucky Baptists, for your investment in Kingdom work through your Cooperative Program gifts that support Clear Creek. You are investing in families like the Fishers.
