Student Kendra McNeeley is one of our local students from just across the Tennessee state line in Lafollette, Tenn. Although she started her educational journey at a local university, she is thankful for the Lord directing her to Clear Creek.
“When I attended the Passion Conference in 2012, one of the main focuses that year was on human trafficking,” said McNeeley. “My heart was absolutely shattered for the men and women who were forced to work for money in ways that I can pray that I never have to experience, even in my dreams.
“After that year my longing to do something about trafficking and help those who were victims to it only grew,” she said. “I was attending a local university at the time and a friend I had made on campus invited me to go to a college ministry at Pump Springs Baptist Church, where I met some of the students from Clear Creek.
“As I got to know them and hear about what they were learning on campus and in the classroom, I realized that this was a place that God wanted me to be. Now here I am, getting an education so that I may learn more, grow more, and one day serve God and His people to the best of my ability,” she added.
“The course work in some of the classes is quite challenging, but there is not one class that I have had so far that I have not enjoyed,” said McNeeley. “In the short time that I have been here, I have learned more about Scripture and about the people in the Bible than I ever thought I could possibly know. I feel that the things I have learned, both in and out of the classroom, will greatly benefit me later on in life when I am serving as a Christian counselor where God places me.
“I can think back on the moments when I sat in the classroom or even in a small group discussion on campus and hopefully the knowledge that I have learned and the discussions that I have had will help me to help someone else, with Jesus Christ always at the center.”
