I am asked from time to time, “What is the greatest need at Crossings for the future?” Well, that is a loaded question for sure, and one that can have numerous legitimate answers. To simplify my response, I must say the answer can be summarized in two simple statements.
While these answers are simple and perhaps common sense, I am convinced that common sense is a term no longer relevant in our world. It has ceased to be common.
First, the greatest need for Crossings going forward is a faithful commitment to God’s word. This means we hold His word as inerrant and we preach the gospel of Jesus in all we do. Holding His word as our authority will direct and order our steps and make us convictional in our programs, events and staffing. I firmly believe this area will become the great dividing line in our society and many will likely soften their stance on biblical faithfulness for cultural acceptance.
Secondly, we must continue to pray for God to bring forth laborers for His harvest. The Bible says in Luke 10:2, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” From Jesus we hear that there does exist a plentiful harvest, which is great news; however, laborers are few, which is not good news. Nevertheless, He has given us the answer: Pray to the Lord of the harvest.
Yes, these two statements encapsulate the greatest need for the future of Crossings. While they may sound simple, practicing them faithfully is not so easy. As you think of your purpose on earth, I would encourage you to be continually convinced of the importance of holding fast to the Bible. If we give up the Bible as our authority, what is left? Secondly, that we all realize and embrace the truth of Luke 10:2 and pray for laborers to be sent into the plentiful harvest that God has promised.
Your prayers to this end for Crossings are greatly appreciated. Thanks for the support!
