PRINCETON—Harold Lynn Greenfield, a former director of missions and former president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention, passed away July 30 at his home in Caldwell County. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church.

Greenfield served as director of missions in Little River Baptist Association, and for 29 years was director of missions in Caldwell-Lyon Baptist Association. He was elected vice president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention and then served as convention president in 2001.

A founding member of the Director of Missions Fellowship in Kentucky and the Caldwell County Historical Society, he was named the Distinguished Minister of the Year in 2011.

Greenfield was a preacher for 67 years, having served congregations in seven countries, 12 states, and 98 Kentucky counties. He was pastor at Sugar Creek Church in Caldwell County, Penrod and Woodland churches in Muhlenberg County, Kosmosdale Church in Jefferson County, Calvary Church in Union County, and Wallonia Church in Trigg County. He also led 190 revivals.

Greenfield loved to read and study. He wrote 17 volumes of Bible studies, Windows in the Bible; the weekly Bible study column for the Princeton Times Leader for 37 years; and countless poems, essays and letters.

He was an avid runner, logging over 50,000 miles. He had run in seven countries and in more than 100 races, including marathons.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, Barbra, and sister, Ann Wilkerson of Madisonville, his survivors included seven children and nine grandchildren.
