CINCINNATI, Ohio — Ohio church planters need help reaching their neighbors with the gospel, and Kentucky Baptist churches can learn how at the Cincinnati Send City Vision Tour.

“For every 10,484 people in Cincinnati, there is only one evangelical, Southern Baptist church,” said Doug Williams, Kentucky Baptist Convention missions strategist.

Of the city’s 1.6 million residents, Williams said less than 14 percent are affiliated with an evangelical church, and more than half identify with no religious body at all.

“Jesus has commissioned us to take the gospel to ends of the earth, and one of the most effective ways to do that is planting churches,” said Travis Smalley, a North American Mission Board missionary.

Smalley will lead Kentucky pastors on a guided tour of the Cincinnati metro area and visit communities that church planters have targeted for evangelistic outreach.

Pastors also will hear from church planters about ministry needs and gain a better understanding of the challenges that come with starting new churches in an urban setting.

“Our hope is that Kentucky Baptist churches will find a church planter or ministry to partner with and serve with these new churches as they seek to make disciples of Christ,” Williams said.

Cincinnati Send City Vision Tour, in partnership with NAMB’s Catch the Vision Tour, will be held Aug. 28-30.
