DALLAS—The Kentucky Baptist Convention’s associate director for convention relations, Curtis Woods, has been selected to serve on the Southern Baptist Convention’s Committee on Resolutions during its Annual Meeting in Dallas on June 12-13.
“I am absolutely humbled by the invitation to serve our messengers, and a watching world, on this committee. God has providentially selected a diverse group of thinkers who will help each resolution reflect a clear voice in chaotic times,” Woods said.

Woods, a contributing author to “Removing the Stain of Racism from the Southern Baptist Convention,” is a member of Watson Memorial Baptist Church in Louisville.
“Jason Duesing will be a wonderful chair,” he added of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s provost and associate professor of historical theology who will serve as the committee’s chairman.
The eight others that comprise the committee include Ken Alford, of Valdosta, Ga.; Byron Day, of Laurel, Md.; Candi Finch, of Fort Worth, Texas; Willie McLaurin, of Franklin, Tenn.; Chris Metcalf, of Lihue, Hawaii; Jason Paredes, of Arlington, Texas.; Adron Robinson, of Country Club Hills, Ill.; and Alicia Wong, of San Bernardino, Ca.
Proposed resolutions may be submitted as early as April 15 but no later than 15 days prior to the SBC annual meeting, giving the Resolutions Committee a two-week period in which to consider submissions. Resolutions may not be submitted during the annual meeting.
Proposed resolutions must be accompanied by a letter from a church qualified to send a messenger to the SBC annual meeting certifying that the individual submitting the resolution is a member in good standing.
Resolutions should be submitted by email or mailed to the Committee on Resolutions in care of the SBC Executive Committee, 901 Commerce St., Nashville, TN 37203. The drafts must be typewritten, titled, dated and include complete contact information for person and church. (BP/WR)
