” … Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” — (Matthew 25:40)
I am so proud of our Kentucky churches who faithfully give to Sunrise Children’s Services every year through our Thanksgiving Offering. But even more, I am proud of what happens when you give to “the least of these.”
When you give to our annual Thanksgiving Offering, you are giving warm meals to hungry children. You are giving hope to families who are thinking about giving up. You are giving education to kids who have previously struggled in school. You are giving family to kids who are longing for a home. Greatest of all, you are showing the love of Christ to our Sunrise kids and families.
For several months, volunteers from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Shepherdsville made a special connection with one of our boys from Spring Meadows Center in Mount Washington. Through their monthly visits, the volunteers from the church showed encouragement and love to this young man. Then, at the beginning of this year, he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at the church. His family, social worker and Spring Meadows staff were all on hand to witness this extraordinary event. It was truly a celebration and an answer to prayer.
Can you imagine the impact that one decision will make on generations to come? It is a proverbial game changer!
That’s what happens when you give. Hearts are touched, and lives are transformed.
So, I am asking you to give again this year. Will you save a seat at the table? Will you have room for one more this Thanksgiving? One more child to feed? One more young person to encourage? One more family to bless?
You, along with your family and your church, can share an offering of hope and love to Kentucky’s most vulnerable with a gift to Sunrise Children’s Services this Thanksgiving.
To participate, first make sure you have all the materials you need. You can go online to www.sunrise.org/thanksgiving to download these free Thanksgiving Offering materials: bulletin insert, poster, slide and video. After you collect your offering, you can send donations online, or you can mail donations to:
Sunrise Children’s Services, 300 Hope Street, PO Box 1429, Mt. Washington, KY 40047. If you send your donation through the mail, please mark as “Thanksgiving Offering.”
Your gift this Thanksgiving will make a tremendous difference in the lives of the children and families we serve. Thank you for your support of Sunrise Children’s Services.
