A well-loved Kentucky Baptist Convention Mission Board staff member is making a major life transition. After serving the KBC for 25 years, Larry Brannin retired as of Aug. 31. Brannin began serving the KBC as a volunteer in 1994 and was hired to be the first media production associate in 1995.
He has helped the KBC develop audio and video capabilities to strengthen its mission to reach Kentucky and the world for Christ. In addition, to producing, filming and editing videos, Brannin led the way in the construction and design of a video studio at the Baptist Building and helped equip the Owen Chapel to be ready for the 21st century.

“Larry Brannin is responsible for having raised our media production capabilities to an entirely new level,” said Jim Donnell, associate executive director for convention operations. Brannin came to the KBC after retiring from the U.S. Air Force, where he served in video production, among other duties.
KBC Executive Director-Treasurer Todd Gray said, “Larry Brannin has tagged every email for recent years with the line, ‘Yours to count on.’ I can’t imagine a more apt description of how Larry has approached his work with the KBC for 25 years. Whether he is leading the production of the Annual Meeting, the Reach Conference, Shepherding or helping a church think through the best equipment for their video needs, Bro. Larry has been a reliable partner for Kentucky Baptists for two and a half decades.”
Gray said Brannin’s faithful work “and the good attitude with which he carries it out is valued by all who know him and a testimony to the Savior he serves.”
Brannin has worked hand in hand with hundreds of KBC churches as he has been a consultant for their audio and video needs. “The Lord certainly blessed Kentucky Baptists when he led Larry to join the Mission Board staff 25 years ago,” said Donnell. Brannin doesn’t have specific plans for retirement, but is confident his wife of 48 years, Barbara, has some ideas.
