The following comments were provided by some of our graduating seniors and were shared at our graduation ceremony. Thank you, Kentucky Baptists, for helping these young people and many more to reach this graduation milestone.
Female student from Phoenix, Ariz.—”My time here at OBI has taught me a lot. I’ve learned so many things, not only from my teachers, but from the houseparents as well. I’ve learned how to grow in Christ and if it were not for this place, I would have never learned how to do this.”
Male student from Louisville—”OBI got me away from all the things that I was doing back home. It saved me, and in the end it really showed me what being my own man feels like.”
Male student from Oneida—Growing up as a ‘staff kid’ at Oneida Baptist Institute, I’ve sacrificed some things, but I feel that the benefits have outweighed the sacrifices—benefits like a quiet and safe environment, a Christian community to call home, and the chance to meet people from all over the world. I believe I have excelled mentally, physically, socially and spiritually because of the opportunities I have had at OBI and the sacrifices others have made for me to be here. I would like to thank the Christians far and wide who give to support the Oneida ministry. You have impacted my life in ways I may never know.”
Male student from Brazil—”OBI was a huge blessing in my life because my parents had no idea where I would go to finish my high school and then go to college, since they went to serve in Senegal. I am truly grateful for the help they gave my family.”
Female student from Queens, N.Y.—”In all honesty, if I didn’t come to this school, not only would I not be the person I am today, I probably couldn’t have impacted the few people here that God would have wanted me to.”
Male student from Vine Grove—”My time at OBI changed my life forever. I had more issues than I could count when I came here, but I have worked through many of them. I have grown in my Christian walk and faith and will be forever grateful to OBI and all the staff for all the wonderful memories and changes made in my life.”
Female student from Fort Myers, Fla.—”My time at OBI has taught me a lot of things about myself. I have learned to be more adaptive and patient. OBI is a family environment which makes it comfortable to be here.”
Female student from The Congo—”OBI has actually helped me to be more open to others and be more responsible and make my own decisions, and to not always depend on my parents.”
