WHEREAS, the year 2012 marks the 175th anniversary of the formation of the General Association of Baptists in Kentucky, predecessor of the Kentucky Baptist Convention; and
WHEREAS, more than 750,000 Kentucky Baptists have chosen to cooperate in ministry through more than 2,400 congregations and 70 associations; and
WHEREAS, this cooperation has survived and thrived through countless theological, spiritual, economic and cultural challenges by maintaining the gospel of Christ as the focal of our mission; and
WHEREAS, this cooperation has extended to Great Commission and Great Commandment endeavors through Christ-centered agencies and institutions; and
WHEREAS, since 1925 Kentucky Baptists have demonstrated a commitment to unity and the vision of Acts 1:8 by giving nearly $730 million for missions and ministries through the Cooperative Program;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the messengers of the 175th annual meeting of the Kentucky Baptist Convention, being held in Lexington November 13, 2012, congratulate and express appreciation to the cooperating churches of the Kentucky Baptist Convention for their service to Christ and their commitment to undertake partnership for the sake of reaching Kentucky and the world for Christ; and
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the messengers of the 175th annual meeting of the Kentucky Baptist Convention, being held in Lexington November 13, 2012, out of deep gratitude to God for the way He has blessed and used the partnering efforts of Kentucky Baptists, commit ourselves anew to serving the cause of Christ together and supporting the cause of the Great Commission by way of generous giving through the Cooperative Program; and
THEREFORE BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the messengers of the 175th annual meeting of the Kentucky Baptist Convention, being held in Lexington November 13, 2012, commit ourselves anew to a spirit of unity and cooperation that would honor God (Psalm 133:1) and bear testimony before the world of the truth of the gospel (John 13:35; 17:22-23; 1 John 4:20)
