Being called by God to open a grassroots pregnancy resource center was a surprise to me, although my family laughs at that statement. They insist they saw it coming for years. God opened the door for me to work in pregnancy center ministry in 2012 at A Loving Choice PRC in Shelbyville, KY. Once I was trained in limited ultrasound, I began serving as a nurse sonographer. I believe that to be the best job in the world – getting to show new moms, dads and family members a peek at their unborn babies, educating them on fetal development and showing them their worth in God’s eyes. More doors began to open while on short-term mission trips with my church, and in 2022, lengthy conversations began to develop as the plan for Hope Lives Pregnancy Center was taking shape. Although I am still doing limited ultrasounds (I don’t think I can ever give that up), I am also the Executive Director of Hope Lives. Most days I find my skills inadequate for that title, but I believe God continues to equip me with what I need to accomplish His work through this ministry. I have a wonderfully supportive family, and I find that to be a critical part of being a missionary. As we say in our house, you are often “voluntold” to help when there is work to be done. At Hope Lives Pregnancy Center, we offer support and encouragement to families who are in unplanned pregnancy situations as well as foster & adoptive families and grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. We strive to meet people where they are with the hope of the Gospel as well as meeting their physical and emotional needs. Our clients take pregnancy and parenting classes, shop in our baby boutique and participate in our many client events where we love on them and their families. As a wife, a homeschool mom of 3 grown daughters and a “Nonni” to 7 grandchildren, I am often overwhelmed with gratitude for the life God has given me to treasure.
