Did you know Sunrise’s residential programs across Kentucky are equipped with on-site classrooms? Oftentimes, the children and youth who enter their care have truancy issues and/or are delinquent in their studies, which can put them behind a grade level or more. Sunrise contracts with the local public school system in each region to employ teachers at these programs who help their clients understand the importance of education and get their school work back on track.
One way you can ensure a successful start to the school year for Sunrise youth is by donating new school supplies. Not only are supplies needed in the schools on site at the residential programs, their foster kids benefit greatly from having new backpacks and other back-to-school items.
Here is Sunrise’s back-to-school shopping list for the 2017-2018 school year. They encourage both individuals and groups alike to donate what they can of the following items. You could also hold a Back-to-School Donation Drive to collect items at your church this summer!
