Prayer changes everything.

Kentucky has a tremendous heritage of spiritual awakening, and many are praying that God will again sweep the state with a spirit of revival.

We call Kentucky Baptists to prayer through conferences, prayer meetings, and a network of prayer coordinators. We provide training, support, and resources for churches and associations that are interested in developing this most important discipline.

Find a variety of resources below to help you and your church strengthen in prayer. Want more information? Contact Jason Stewart at jason.stewart@kybaptist.org.

Prayer Resources

Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire by Jim Cymbala

A classic must-read for readers looking for hope and transformation in the church today, Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire shows what the Holy Spirit can do when believers get serious about prayer and the gospel. As this compelling book reveals, God moves in life-changing ways – calling us back from spiritual dead ends, apathy, and lukewarm religion – when we set aside our own agendas, take him at his word, and listen for his voice.

Breakthrough Prayer by Jim Cymbala

Do you long to break through your limitations to a life transformed by God? Breakthrough Prayer helps you connect with God’s heart and obtain answers to your prayers. Jim Cymbala, pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle — a church build on prayer — explains the principles of faith filled, mountain-moving prayer that can transform circumstances, change lives, and draw you closer to God than you’ve ever imagined.

Praying for the Lost

The Praying for the Lost Journal was developed to help believers push back darkness by praying for the lost locally and globally. Jesus modeled (John 17:20) and even commanded us to pray for the lost (Luke 10:2). However, our daily experience of interceding faithfully and fervently can be harder than it sounds as praying for the lost is engaging in spiritual warfare (Eph 6:12).

May the collection of prayers, spiritual reflections and celebrations recorded on these pages reflect incredible growth in your personal walk and the kingdom.

Oh, That You Would Rend the Heavens DVD

John Franklin followed up his prayer-focused book, “And the Place was Shaken,” with a challenging and helpful resource on spiritual awakening. Filmed before a live audience at the Kentucky Baptist Building in Louisville in 2012, “Oh, That You Would Rend the Heavens” explores the question: “What will it take for spiritual awakening?” Could it happen again today? Whether it does or not depends on God, us knowing the ways of God, and our response to Him.

In this study, Franklin outlines biblical reasons why the kind of massive spiritual revival that began right here in Kentucky in 1800 seems to elude us today. How are Christians to respond so that God’s Spirit once again will blow the flames of awakening across Kentucky and the world?
