Hardin—On Sept. 23-25, approximately 400 college students across the state will gather at Jonathan Creek Conference center for a time of connecting, fellowship and learning how to engage their campus for Christ. The conference is part of the Kentucky Baptist Convention’s Twelve24 initiative.

“In the fall semester you have a window of opportunity to meet new students and develop new relationships. With this generation, the twelve24 generation, relationships are one of the most important things in their life,” Brian Combs, the collegiate evangelism strategist with the KBC, said. “So for churches that are trying to engage college students, they have to develop a relationship with college students.

“What we’ve done is create a conference where churches can work with the campus missionary within their region in the first few weeks in the fall semester, develop new relationships with students and try to get them to this conference,” Combs explained.

Speakers include Tom Richter, Curtis Woods, Holly Prosser, Elaina Barron, Brett Martin, Jon Barron, Rick Howerton, Steve Coleman, Jonathan Clark, Brian Hinton, Tyler Wittmer, Keith Inman, Todd Thomas and Sixteen Cities.

“The idea of this conference is to equip these students to go back to their campuses as a missionary to engage their friends with the gospel,” Combs said, expressing his hope that churches use this to get their college students excited about sharing the gospel and building relationships on their campuses.

In addition, he hopes for many of the attenders to hear the gospel themselves. “But then we’ll send them back energized and equipped to engage their campus as missionaries,” he added.
