Thurmon Ray Harris, 79, of Madisonville, passed away Feb. 23, at Baptist Health Madisonville.
Thurmond served as pastor for six Kentucky churches: Bryantsville Baptist, Garrard County; Jamestown Baptist, Jamestown; Victory Baptist, Providence; Mount Carmel Baptist, Ohio County; Pleasant Hill Baptist, Muhlenberg County; and LaFayette Baptist, Dawson Springs. He also served at First Baptist, Griffith, Ind.
Thurmon graduated from Lewisburg High School in 1955, and he enrolled at Bethel Junior College and Belmont College before graduating from Union University in 1960. He earned a master of dvinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville.
He often donated his time and resources to numerous ministries, including Bright Life Farm in Caldwell County, African missions and various evangelism efforts.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Martin Harris; three daughters, Amy Harris Pecaro, Jill Harris Lamb, and Emily Harris McDaniel; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister.
