Our phone rings, and a question often arises: “Can I still get the Western Recorder free?”
If you are a pastor of a Kentucky Baptist church or a director of missions, the answer is, “Absolutely.” The same goes for our retired ministers.
True, a couple of years ago, we had to discontinue sending print editions to senior pastors and directors of missions. Because of rising printing and mailing costs and a significant reduction in our Cooperative Program allocation by the Kentucky Baptist Convention, we simply could no longer afford to send complimentary print issues to each of our more than 2,225 senior pastors and directors of missions. We really regret that it was necessary. So, we determined to provide our digital issues and all of our stories that are posted on our website to you—free.
As a former pastor of mine repeatedly said, “All means all, and that’s all that all means.” ALL articles on our website written by the KBC Communications staff, as well as all stories from Baptist Press, are always open access. Anyone can read them, anytime, anywhere.
“But when I click on some of your articles, I can only read a couple of paragraphs and then a log-in form appears. Can I read those stories free, too?” some pastors and DOMs may wonder.
Absolutely. Yes, some articles are subscriber exclusives, and you need to be a print or digital subscriber to the Western Recorder to read them. BUT, if you are a senior pastor or director of missions, you have a complimentary digital subscription to the Western Recorder. All means all! So you can read all of our e-issues and all of our online news—absolutely free.
“What do I need to do to be able to read all your stories?” I’m glad you asked. You will need a subscriber number for the online form to create your username and password. Just call the Western Recorder at 1-866-489-3535, identify yourself as a Kentucky pastor or DOM, and we’ll take care of the rest. Even the call is free!
What are you waiting for? Call today! You don’t want to miss a single Kentucky Baptist news story. And, we don’t want you to, either.
We know you will enjoy reading your Western Recorder e-issues and all of our online articles so much that you will encourage others to read it, too. And, we hope you will consider starting a church plan, so your church members can receive the Western Recorder, too. We find that Kentucky Baptists are more generous in supporting their missions and ministries when they know about them. By the way, if a group of five or more members subscribe through your church office, then their pastor receives a print issue of the Western Recorder—absolutely free.
So, despite what you may have heard, say: ‘It t’aint so! I’m a Kentucky pastor, and I get my Western Recorder e-issue and all the Kentucky Baptist news online completely FREE—as it should be.
