PRINCETON—Hell is Real Ministries, a ministry center in Princeton has collected $40,800 of its $50,000 goal for a new building. The center originally had 90 days to complete fundraising, with a deadline of July 18.

The new center will be used to centralize the ministry, as it currently has offices in a trailer and its Joseph’s Storage Bin, a thrift store with inexpensive merchandise in a smaller storefront.

The building, built in 1914, was listed at $100,000. The ministry, however, not only countered with $50,000, but asked for 90 days to find the funds. Most of the money collected for the building has come from individual donors.

Combining spaces will save the ministry funds on utilities as well as provide room for expansion, including the ability to house small mission teams. The location in downtown Princeton is a prime spot to minister to the surrounding community.

Led by Kentucky Baptist missionary Harrell Riley, Hell Is Real ministries serves several Job Corps campuses, the Prisons of Kentucky, several county jails, and does community outreach to support small churches.

Riley shared with his team the story of “Mrs. Johnson.”

“Her husband passed away and her boys were off to war,” he said. “She got up every morning praying that God would send her son home. Every morning she would bake a plate of cookies, and she cut a bunch of fresh flowers. On the day that her son came home, she had a plate of cookies on the table and fresh flowers by the bed.

“What I told our group in relation to praying for this, is what we’re doing is that we are going to bake cookies; meaning, we’re going to have the spirit and attitude. We’re going to do what we’re doing and let people know,” he explained. “We’re just going to believe God for it, and that’s what’s happening.”
