WHEREAS, Our nation has been shaken by cataclysmic storms, mass shootings, daily violence in cities across the land, heartache caused by an epidemic of substance abuse, and other factors that have brought pain and suffering for people of all ages, including helpless children; and
WHEREAS, We are witnessing a rampant disregard for the commands and teachings of God’s Word; and
WHEREAS, We are called by God to intercessory prayer (John 17:18-21; Romans 8:26-27; Philippians 2:3-4); and
WHEREAS, Christians are instructed in Scripture to pray in every situation and circumstance (Philippians 4:6-7); and
WHEREAS, Followers of Christ understand that a broken people in a broken land can find help and hope only by turning to God (2 Chronicles 7:14) now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the messengers to the Kentucky Baptist Convention meeting in Louisville, Kentucky, November 14, 2017, humbly acknowledge God’s absolute control over the world He created and call on all Christians to recommit themselves to intercessory prayer on behalf of a people who desperately need His intervention.
