Don Spencer is a native of Virginia. He has been on the KBC staff since May of 1977, first as Associate Director of the Church Music Department for 8 years, then as a Church Financial Benefits Consultant since May of 1985. Prior to that, he served on the church staff for 5 years at Eastern Parkway Baptist Church in Louisville, KY, and 5 years at Versailles Baptist Church in Versailles, KY. His education includes a degree from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester, VA, and graduate studies at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and College for Financial Planning in Denver, CO. In 1993 he received approval as a Certified Financial Planner. Don authored the “Hymn and Scripture Selection Guide” published in 1977 by Judson Press and a revised version published in 1995 by Baker Book House. Don initiated and served for 14 years as coordinator of the biennial SBC Compensation Study, now handled by GuideStone and Lifeway. Don and his wife Barbara are members at Highland Park First Baptist Church where he serves as organist and she serves as pianist. With 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, family is a important part of their lives.
