Louisville—Cary Donnell, of Louisville, has joined the staff of the Western Recorder as a journalism intern.
Donnell, a recent graduate of the University of Louisville, is the son of Jim and Ginny Donnell, of Louisville. His father is the associate executive director of the Kentucky Baptist Convention.
A member of Highview Baptist Church’s East Campus, Donnell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from UofL. He also holds an associate’s degree in communications from Jefferson Community and Technical College, having attended Louisville Male High School.
He is employed part-time as night shift package handler at UPS.
An avid sports fan, particularly basketball
and football, he enjoys impersonating Elvis Presley on the karaoke stage at his college group’s Bible studies and editing college football Wikipedia pages.
Through the internship with Western Recorder, Donnell hopes to gain valuable experience as news and feature writer that will help him in progressing toward his chosen career in communications.
“My hope is to produce works at the WR that I can show to a potential employer, and to develop my skills in writing,” Donnell said. “I would love to have a career in Baptist life,” he added. (WR)
