East Tennessee wildfires in the Great Smoky Mountains have damaged over 400 buildings and displaced over 14,000 people from their homes. Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief Director Coy Webb has talked with Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief on how we can best help those impacted by these devastating fires.
Those on the ground are currently asking that goods not be collected to send to the Sevier County area as they have already received hundreds of truckloads of supplies and, though the generosity is appreciated, they do not need additional supplies at this time.
The best way to assist victims of these fires is monetary donations and gift cards at this time. Monetary donations and gift cards can be sent to: Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief, PO Box 728, Brentwood, TN 37024.
Please write on the check or include a note that these donations are designated to “East Tennessee Wildfires.”
Churches and homes have been damaged by these tragic wildfires, and in the coming weeks, other opportunities to assist or to volunteer to help may arise after officials open the area for recovery response.
Again, monetary donations or gift cards are the best way to help victims of the fires as it enables victims or agencies helping to purchase what is needed to assist victims.
