Elizabethtown–An Elizabethtown pastor and 19 churches were singled out as models of unwavering faithfulness to cooperative missions giving during the annual meeting of the Kentucky Baptist Convention.
Bill Langley, senior pastor of Severns Valley Baptist Church, received the Distinguished Cooperative Program Leadership Award for his lifelong devotion to the Cooperative Program. He has served the 4,000-member congregation and the community of Elizabethtown since 2009.
In the past 10 years, Severns Valley gave nearly $3 million to missions through the Cooperative Program, contributing to the increase in baptisms and church plants in Kentucky and around the world.
“Dr. Bill Langley is a convictional leader,” said Curtis Woods, Kentucky Baptist Convention’s associate executive director. “Langley embodies the ‘four pegs’ of our convention: he has a high view of scripture; he adheres to the Baptist Faith and Message; he is passionate about the Great Commission; and he honors cooperation.
“For several years, Severns Valley has set the bar in CP giving,” Woods said. “Without question, churches that set the pace for others in CP giving are led by CP marathoners. Bill is a long-distance giving champion.” (KBC)
