Thanks Katie McCoy for the needed second step, “Pro-life, anti-poverty.”
A longtime active nun trying to help women avoid abortions chafed a bit with pro-lifers. She said, “You are not pro-life, you are simply pro-birth.” Seemingly unsolvable life stresses push many women toward abortion who would have never thought they could consider such.
Recently deceased Fuller Seminary ethics professor Glen Stassen wrote that “a living wage” (my expression) will deter abortions. No, it won’t end all abortions at once, but it promises moves toward fewer ones willed by the women who decide for themselves.
